On December 7, 2003 Patrick joined the Da Camera Society Chamber Music in Historic Sites for their Christmas holiday concert of Church Immanuel Presbyterian in Los Angeles. It was a memorable event, a fitting start to the Christmas season, and Patrick had a thoroughly good time. The Perilous Fight
The KCTS/Seattle TWI - Carlton- production, "The Perilous Fight" narrated by Martin Sheen is now being seen regularly on US Public Television. The U.K. version, "America's War" was narrated by Patrick and was originally broadcast on Britain's Channel Four. It garnered some highly favorable reviews including this one from The Guardian (August 19th 2001): "...the visual impact of this series' vintage colour footage has immeasurably deepened our understanding of American troops' experience during the second world war, with all of its actual and cultural horrors." Adding in Patrick Macnee's commentary plus the reading of period correspondence has made this a sometimes impossibly moving study of how US forces had to "fight their way across the many islands of the Central Pacific."
Amazon.co.uk has links to both VHS (PAL format) and DVDs (PAL format - Region 2).

Avengers Weekend - June 25-26, 2011
Fifty years ago - on January 7th 1961, the first episode of The Avengers was broadcast. On February 9th, 1961 - The Beatles made their debut at The Cavern Club in Liverpool, England. A coincidence? Or was that year truly the moment when the grey England of the 1950's bloomed into something way more colourful?
In any event, the University of Chichester in Sussex, UK, will on the weekend of June 25-26, 2011 be holding The Avengers Celebration. It looks like it will be a lot of fun.

John Dankworth Has Died
Sadly, Johnny Dankworth passed away Saturday, February 6, 2010. He wrote the original Avengers theme that was used from 1961-64 before they started using the more familiar theme song composed by Laurie Johnson in Diana Rigg's first year on the show.
Patrick says, "I was so sad to hear of John's passing. I send my condolences to dear Cleo. Johnny helped to define the first breakthrough episodes of The Avengers. His opening title theme music brilliantly evoked the new cutting-edge sounds of the beginning of the 1960's."

Avengers Postage Stamp!
In the UK Independent Television (ITV) started broadcasting in September 1955. To celebrate its 50th birthday, the Royal Mail has produced a series of stamps commemorating some of the best TV shows the network has broadcast. Each of the stamps will feature a scene from the title sequence for that program.
ITV1 held a viewers' poll that selected the most popular TV series, according to six genres. The Cult TV favourite was "The Avengers", and is to be honoured by featuring it on the 47p stamp. Steed's brolly and umbrella, the champagne glasses and Emma's pistol capture the essence of the show.
The six stamps will go on sale on September 15th 2005. They will be available in half sheets of each denomination, as mint stamp sets, on special First Day Covers, in an illustrated presentation gift pack, or as sets of postcards.
In addition a limited number of first day covers signed by Patrick are available from Buckingham Covers.
